Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest is recruiting a great number of doctors and nurses to fill in new positions at the newly run and soon-to-be-expanded hospital.

Since most hospitals today are facing national shortages of full-time health professionals, Northern Beaches Hospital is not limiting its recruitment campaign to local doctors and nurses in the Northern Beaches community. Instead, the recruitment will go all over Australia and even to countries overseas such as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

International health professionals coming from these three specific countries are prioritised since they have similar qualifications and systems to Australia. This makes the recruitment process relatively easy as compared to other applicants of different nationalities.

Northern Beaches Hospital hopes to lure more health professionals by pitching its newly built first-class facilities, surrounded by one-of-a-kind northern beaches lifestyle amenities. As incentive to current doctors and nurses at the hospital, each is rewarded with a $1,000-bonus if they can find suitable candidates for recruitment.

Lack of Affordable Housing

A major factor that hampers the recruitment of immigrant health professionals in the Northern Beaches Hospital is its lack of affordable housing. It is considered as an expensive place to live, and finding a good accommodation within the peninsula is oftentimes difficult.

For recruitment of local health professionals, the issue of how far they are willing to travel for work arises. In fact, many of the current working nurses in the Northern Beaches Hospital live along western Sydney and in Bondi. Travelling such distance to get to work is already a burden.

At present, the Northern Beaches Hospital has enough health professionals to handle all the services the hospital offers. But for the next 12 months, the hospital’s management is looking forward to opening the remaining wards on level 5 and 6 — a   total of 488 beds — combined with the other new services they will offer.

This is mainly why they are pushing further on ramping up their hospital staff with a great number of doctors and nurses to join their dedicated and expert team.
